God is good, faithful, merciful and the giver of Grace. However, the O.T. has shown that God will use unbelieving rulers and natural disasters as warnings and punishment to God's people as a sign of mercy to get straightened out. A significant portion of Exodus is training to change stinking thinking to right thinking. The history from Judges through the Chronicles are pictures of people failures repentance and ultimate failure; all of which God had a hand.

I know you can tell I am no theologian, but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to read. You just have to be a rocket scientist to argue with a theologian.

Was Katrina and the Asian Tsunami the hand of God? There is no answer for that until the time of history shows conclusions. Otherwise it is just guessing and speculation. Could they have been the hand of God? Yes they could have been.

I believe it was the hand of GOd, in the sense that he is sovereign over His creation.

But whether it was a specific judgment for specific sins? That we do not and can not know.
It is enough that creation suffers from sin for these things to happen.
